Purpose and Vision
The Skill Development initiative at Skills and Ability School is rooted in the belief that every individual has the potential to lead a self-reliant, productive life. The program is designed to equip learners with practical abilities and life skills that foster independence, prepare them for meaningful work, and help them contribute to their communities with dignity.
Pre-Vocational Training
This foundational training module is offered to students in the early stages of adolescence or those preparing for structured work exposure. It focuses on:

- Functional Academics Application-based learning in math, reading, and communication.
- Daily Living Skills: Cooking basics, hygiene routines, time management, money handling.
- Fine & Gross Motor Coordination:Through activities like art, simple crafts, packaging, and movement-based tasks.
- Following Routines & Instructions: Building consistency, attention span, and task completion.
- Behavioral Readiness: Emotional regulation, work habits, and social adaptability.
Vocational Training
Tailored for older students and young adults, Vocational Training focuses on specific trades and employability skills based on each learner’s aptitude and interests. This includes:
Skill-Based Modules in
• Office assistance (filing, data entry,
clerical routines).
• Retail skills (billing, inventory arrangement)
• Hospitality basics (serving, cleanliness, kitchen support)
• Artisanal crafts (candle-making, paper bags, envelopes, simple jewelry)
• Digital basics (MS Office, typing, printing tasks, depending on ability)

Assessment & Certification
Each trainee is assessed periodically based on their skill acquisition, consistency, and behavior. Those completing vocational programs receive skill certificates , enabling them to pursue sheltered employment, supported jobs, or small entrepreneurial activities.
Individualized Approach
Vocational pathways are not one-size-fits-all. Each learner receives Individual Vocational Plans (IVPs) developed collaboratively with therapists, educators, and family, focusing on strengths and future aspirations.
