Overview of Curriculum Approach

At Skills and Ability School, the academic curriculum is thoughtfully designed to cater to children with intellectual and developmental challenges. We focus on both foundational readiness and academic progression through structured, adaptive frameworks. Our approach combines traditional learning models with modern-day inclusive education standards, aligning with national open schooling guidelines where applicable.

Age Groups & Levels Served

Our programs serve children and young adults across multiple age brackets:

  • Learning Readiness (LR): Tailored for early learners to build foundational cognitive, sensory, and motor skills essential for classroom readiness.
  • Primary Course: For children progressing beyond readiness, focused on structured learning in language, numeracy, and life skills.
  • NIOS Programs:
    • Pratham Syllabus (Std. II – VIII): Designed for middle-level students following a simplified and flexible curriculum through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
    • NIOS Std. X & Std. XII: For higher-level learners, enabling them to appear for formal board examinations under NIOS, preparing them for further studies or vocational careers.

Teaching Methodologies

We employ a blend of multi-sensory teaching techniques, visual aids, activity-based learning, and digital tools. Teaching is highly individualized, with small class sizes to ensure every student receives focused attention.

Inclusion & Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Each student benefits from a customized Individualized Education Plan (IEP), developed in consultation with educators, therapists, and parents. These plans set measurable academic and behavioral goals, with regular evaluations to ensure progress and adaptability.

Academic Milestones & Certifications

Students graduating through the NIOS framework receive recognized certifications:

  • Pratham Level (II–VIII): Validated assessments providing academic continuity.
  • Secondary (Std. X) and Senior Secondary (Std. XII): Nationally recognized certifications under NIOS, opening doors to further education and employment opportunities.
These milestones represent not just academic achievement but also the success of inclusive and supportive educational strategies tailored to each learner’s potential.
